Data Centre Services
South West Communications Group's Tier-1 Data Centre offers a highly resilient infrastructure with no single point of failure that is built around leading edge standards to provide the best in class for security, environment, power, fire prevention and network connectivity. Public access is strictly forbidden and is only allowed within common areas under strict security conditions. All entrances and common areas are monitored 24/7 via closed-circuit cameras.
Our fire prevention system has been specifically designed to our exacting requirements and differs from other Data Centres who employ Halon and fire suppression type protection. The system constantly monitors each individual cabinet and will detect any electrical induced fault before it has had time to develop into a combustible fire. Most fire suppression systems when detecting a fire will flood the room with gas and drop the power to the entire site. Our system will only drop the power to the particular cabinet where the electrically induced fault has occurred, protecting the integrity and availability of the rest of the Data Centre equipment.
The Data Centre is totally self-sufficient with all cabinets individually powered with uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) maintaining a smooth and clean supply. In addition we have a standby power generator capable of supporting the entire facility in the event of an extended power outage and able to run indefinitely. The generator is regularly tested to ensure functionality in the event of an emergency and agreements are in place for the continuous supply of fuel.
We also realise that a Tier-1 Data Centre is more than hardware and software: we employ a certified networking and security team with years of experience to manage and monitor our enterprise-level networks. Our technicians are trained to the highest possible standards.
The Data Centre has been built with capacity in mind and currently accommodates 120 cabinets (each with 40U of useable space) – with the capacity to quadruple the amount of cabinets as demand continues to grow.
