Westlea Housing

The background

South West Communication Group provides Westlea Housing with a unified voice and data solution that cost-effectively and efficiently links its entire workforce.

Westlea Housing is a charitable housing association, based in Chippenham, Wiltshire, which was set up in 1995 to take over and improve homes previously owned by North Wiltshire District Council. It works throughout Wiltshire and provides more than 6,000 homes to people with a range of housing needs, particularly to those who cannot afford to rent or buy property on the open market.

The challenge

Westlea Housing wanted to replace its existing telephone system as it was opening new headquarters and was also integrating with another site in Oxfordshire for delivery of many of its services. Westlea also operated out of another office in Swindon and had a number of home workers which needed to be considered.

Westlea was also keen to deliver a better service to its customers and to save money by utilising the technological advances in communications that were most suited to their needs.

The solution

Following a formal tender process, South West Communications Group was awarded the contract and provided Westlea with an Alcatel-Lucent the OmniPCX Enterprise telephone system and OmniSwitch LAN data infrastructure together with its call routing service to provide Westlea’s 240 users with a single solution that included the following:

  • IP telephony for 240 users
  • LAN infrastructure
  • Centralised operators
  • Contact centre
  • Call recording
  • Free calls between sites
  • Voicemail with email integration
  • Dual processors for DR purposes
  • Lines and minutes call routing services
  • On-going support
