The background
South West Communications Group helps an Exeter surgery make use of its automated appointment booking system by upgrading its existing telephone system.
St Leonard’s Practice in Exeter, Devon, serves its patient list through its 6 GPs and a team of nurses and administration staff.
The challenge
St Leonard’s had been a long-term customer of South West Communications Group who installed a Toshiba DK40 telephone system at the Practice’s former site in 2001 before upgrading it to the more modern Toshiba CTX100 in 2006. South West Communications Group had also assisted St Leonard’s with its move to its current purpose-built surgery in Exeter and continues to provide all of its lines and minutes services.
In 2009, St Leonard’s again turned to its dedicated account manager at South West Communications Group when it began investigating the possibility of using an automatic appointment booking system called Patient Partner to help its reception staff cope with the volume of calls it was experiencing each morning.
The solution
South West Communications Group supported St Leonard’s ambition to use Patient Partner and helped it make the adjustments required to its existing telephone system to keep costs to a minimum. The resulting solution included:
- Robust, reliable and flexible telephony
- Automated attendant to accommodate Patient Partner
- Lines and calls for gimmick-free “Tracker” call tariffs
