South West Communications Group provides St Ives Bay Holiday Park with a hi-tech wireless Internet hotspot facility to attract further customers to its seaside location.

St Ives Bay Holiday Park is located on one of Cornwall's finest beaches and offers a range of family holiday accommodation, including caravans, chalets, houses and camping areas, as well as a range of leisure and complementary facilities.

The challenge

St Ives Bay Holiday Park was a long-standing client of South West Communications Group having had a telephone system installed back in 1998 and adopting their lines & minutes service in 2001.

Conversations with the park’s management team developed their desire to offer a wireless Internet access service for its customers. Holiday-makers were beginning to expect this type of service as standard and St Ives wanted to remain at the forefront of its field and to continue to distinguish itself from the competition.

The solution

South West Communications Group installed its surfiT WiFi hotpot solution at St Ives Bay Holiday Park. Access points were installed at strategic locations to provide wireless Internet access in the conservatory and Sands Bar areas.

St Ives decided to provide this Internet service free of charge for its clients, rather than using one of the many charging options available, to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty while hopefully increasing revenues in other areas of the business.

Customers, who may have been put off going on holiday due to work pressures, are now able to email, instant message and surf the web and also keep in touch with both their clients and their own businesses if required.
