South West Communications Group shortlisted for sports award

South West Communications Group has been shortlisted for the Business Contribution to Sport Award in the inaugural Express & Echo Sports Awards.

The Exeter-based expert in business telephone systems, data centre services and data networks has made the final list on the basis of an entry submitted to the newspaper in December last year.

South West Communications Group’s entry included evidence on its long-term support of rugby’s first ever South West Premiership side, Exeter Chiefs, as well as its sponsorship of a range other local sports teams including Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club and Withycombe RFC.

The entry also drew attention to its support of young people trying to break into professional sport with its sponsorship of the1st XVs representing both Bicton College and the University of Exeter, with the latter also benefiting from bursaries for individual students who need extra financial support.

Harry Langley, South West Communications Group’s managing director, said: “We are very pleased to have been shortlisted for this award. As a local company, we have dedicated a large proportion of our marketing budget to supporting Devon sports teams and we have enjoyed seeing these teams celebrate varying degrees of success while also exposing our business to a range of different audiences.”

The Business Contribution to Sport Award and 16 others, ranging from Sports Teacher to Lifetime Achievement, will be announced at a ceremony held at Sandy Park on Thursday, January 19.
