South West Communications Group bowls in as main sponsor of Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club
South West Communications Group has widened its sports sponsorship portfolio by signing up to become the main sponsors of Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club.
The Exeter-based telephony, network and data solutions company is already the main and first team sponsor of Exeter Chiefs and also sponsors Withycombe RFC.
South West Communications Group has now agreed to sponsor Budleigh Salterton CC, one of the longest established cricket clubs in Devon, for three years. Match reports for Budleigh date back to 1858 and today the club is well supported by its community and run by an enthusiastic management committee under the chairmanship of Simon Lister.
The club endeavours to provide a friendly and safe environment that offers a full range of cricket activity for its playing members and the community. The club runs two senior sides playing on a Saturday in The Devon Cricket League. The club also has five colts teams and also 10 teams participating in the club’s own community league.
South West Communications Group’s managing director Harry Langley said: “Cricketing people tend to follow the same socio-economic patterns as rugby supporters and so we are looking to extend our brand with these business leaders and decision-makers. We linked up with Budleigh because of their local profile and commitment to youth development of cricket as a team sport - in the same way that the Exeter Chiefs is in its rugby community.”
Kevin Curran, club secretary of Budleigh Salterton CC, said: “The club was delighted to announce the completion of a three-year agreement with South West Communications Group to become main sponsors of the club at its first full club night. It was a pleasure to welcome the directors and staff of South West Communications Group to the club, in particular their chief executive Tony Rowe and managing director Harry Langley.
“South West Communications Group has already made a significant outlay in purchasing new kit for all of the club teams including the club’s community league teams. This kit will now display the South West Communications Group logo.
“South West Communications Group is also underwriting the cost of specialist coach James Hope, who would be supporting the club’s existing coaches, and another to provide one-to-one tuition to the colts.”
