Exeter Chiefs’ main and first team sponsor South West Communications Group has sent its best wishes to the region’s only rugby Premiership team ahead of its second foray into the top flight.

Exeter Chiefs’ main and first team sponsor South West Communications Group has sent its best wishes to the region’s only rugby Premiership team ahead of its second foray into the top flight.

South West Communications Group is now in its 19th year of sponsorship of the Sandy Park outfit, which sees a further shift in its corporate sporting brand.

Exeter Chiefs’ playing shirts will bear “s w comms” as the next step in the shift from the former South West Telecoms branding after using “s w comms.co.uk” last season. Chiefs training kit will also feature the orange South West Communications Group lozenge logo on the sleeve.

Harry Langley, managing director of South West Communications Group, said: “Having supported Exeter Chiefs for nearly two decades through their rise through the leagues and three cup final appearances, it was extremely rewarding to see the club exceed all expectations in the Premiership last season. As a business which has its roots firmly planted in the South West, it was very satisfying to see a regional club do so well and more than hold its own against England’s most successful clubs and against European sides too.

“The 2011/12 season starts with a bang against Leicester Tigers at Welford Road this Saturday where Chiefs nearly caused an upset last year. Everyone at South West Communications Group wishes the Chiefs all the best for Saturday and for the rest of 2011/12 and hopes they can emulate and even exceed their performance of last season.”

South West Communications Group is the main sponsor of Exeter Chiefs’ community programme Community Chiefs. All community team members wear kit branded with the South West Communications Group blue lozenge logo. The south stand at Sandy Park is also named after the Exeter-based telecommunications provider.

This industry is far cry from her previous working life when she worked as communications manager for Exeter Chiefs and Northampton Saints.
