South West Communications Group has been named the Avanquest Solutions Partner of the Month for its work with North Bristol NHS Trust – the 5th largest NHS Trust in the UK.

Avanquest Solutions described South West Communications Group’s £2 million-plus contract as an “outstanding win in the national health sector”.

South West Communications Group chose Avanquest Solutions to provide the voice & fax mail and speech enabled directory which could all be could be seamlessly integrated with the new telephone system that it is in the process of rolling out to 7,500 extensions.

The AVST CallXpress voicemail platform and integrated Open Text RightFax platform replaced traditional tape answerphones and fax machines and has significantly improved the Trust’s messaging services. The Trust’s staff can be immediately notified and then can access their voice, fax and email messages via MS Outlook from any location via their iPhones or any other web-enabled mobile device. This one-stop real-time access to voicemail and email has improved the effective use of staff’s time and provided an immediate return on investment in eliminating the operating costs of both answerphones and fax machines.

Furthermore, the interactive speech directory and attendant will be initially installed to assist the operators in handling the large quantity of internal calls so that members of staff, including the contact centre agents, need only speak the person or department’s name they wish to contact to be automatically directed to the right extension freeing up the operators’ time. This enhancement to the voicemail platform provides speech recognition with the ability to answer and manage calls 24/7/365 thereby reducing costs, increasing productivity and improving the efficiency of call delivery as users no longer have to wade through vast menu selections. The Trust intends to roll this out to external calls at a later date to make it easier for patients to reach the right person as quickly as possible.

Brian Lodge, South West Communications Group’s engineering director, said: “We were looking for a company to work with us in providing a quality voicemail, email and speech enabled directory solution for one of the largest hospitals in Europe. Avanquest have proven to be a great partner to work with and they have seamlessly integrated with our core communications platform."
