Microsoft is constantly improving the Teams end-user experience with new features that greatly enhance the look and functions on this communications platform.
Examples include pop-out windows, together mode, focus mode, breakout rooms (coming very soon) and moving the menu bar to the top of the app to reduce presentation distractions.
One area Microsoft has particularly been working on is the cross-platform capabilities with Teams and allowing users to join meetings and communicate with anyone, no matter what device they are using.
Current meetings have their limitations on these devices. For example, viewing a screen-share on a small device isn’t ideal and would be better on a desktop, but what about the other way around? Is it possible to now use screen-sharing on a mobile?
The answer here is yes! It is being slowly rolled out to Teams users, currently only available on iOS, but very soon Android will shortly follow. It gives us the ability to show exactly what we see on our mobile devices without needing any third-party software, like TeamViewer.
To enable this, you simply join a Teams meeting from the mobile app, and in the menu bar there is the option to share. You have options for what in particular you want other people on the meeting to see.
Once selected, a broadcast happens to which you can then present your content. In the video screenshot below, I’ve simply gone to YouTube and shared our corporate video.
And on the other side of the experience, the viewers will see the mobile screen on their Teams client and view great quality media.
This is a great addition from Microsoft, which further empowers our users to be as productive as possible and give them the tools to succeed in difficult times.
