Gigabit Connection Voucher Scheme

Gigabit Connection Voucher Scheme

We are a registered Gigabit Connection Voucher Scheme supplier.

The new Government Gigabit Connection Voucher Scheme has replaced the two-year SuperConnected Cities Voucher Scheme that was rolled out in 2014. Its launch will see £200 million of funding made available and will be handled via applications to Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) and local bodies.

Businesses will not be required to subscribe to gigabit services, but the leased line connections must be capable of supporting these speeds – both upload and download - from day one. The funding contributes between £500 and £3,000 towards installing these connections, but does not cover VAT or monthly costs.

Gigabit Connection Voucher Scheme

Why upgrade your internet connection?
SuperConnected Cities Voucher Scheme saw thousands of businesses benefit from subsidised upfront capital costs to get a better connection to their premises. It placed the grant directly in the hands of the small business, avoiding centralised procurement processes and let them choose the solution and the supplier that worked best for them. The scheme was expanded to 50 cities in 2015 due to its success.

The The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport’s Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme Impact and Benefits Study released in July 2017 revealed:

  • 42,500 small firms substantially improved their internet connection - on average new services were 18 times faster
  • The UK benefitted by at least £8 for every £1 spent
  • One in four firms employed an extra full-time member of staff and each made an average of £1,300 more profit per annum, through being more efficient and effective, and providing more reliable and faster delivery of goods and services
  • More than 6,000 businesses pooled their voucher with others in group schemes to get ultrafast connections at guaranteed speeds in areas previously prohibitively expensive and at reduced ongoing costs
  • The scheme encouraged competition and consumer choice with 87% of funding going to smaller suppliers providing specialised services, like swcomms
