South West Communications Group found itself in familiar surroundings when it attended a recent business networking event in Exeter.

The Network Central event was held at Sandy Park, the home of Exeter Chiefs, where South West Communications Group presence is clear to see as main and first team sponsors of the Premiership rugby club.

South West Communications Group attended the event along with 80 other local businesses and more than 400 visitors to showcase its range of communications solutions, including the latest technology in business telephone and video conferencing systems.

The Sowton-based business also ran a draw on the day for a pair of Grandstand tickets to one of Chiefs’ games in the 2011/12 season. These were won by Mark Evans-Martin of Sumaq in Whimple; a local company specialising in database solutions.

Sarah Flowers, sales director of South West Communications Group, said: “We saw this event as an opportunity to support local business to business networking with other like-minded organisations. It was an enjoyable day and provided a number of new business opportunities and we hope the rugby tickets will coincide with another successful Premiership season for the Chiefs.”

Former newspaper journalist, Caroline joined the company in 2008 with no previous knowledge of the industry.

She set about stripping back all the jargon to produce plain English marketing collateral to support the sales teams. Now slightly more well-versed in the dark arts of voice, connectivity and data services, Caroline writes blogs, case studies, data sheets and social media updates to engage with potential and existing customers.

This industry is far cry from her previous working life when she worked as communications manager for Exeter Chiefs and Northampton Saints.
