South West Communications Group upgrades Olives Et Al’s telephone system and connectivity services from a trusted, single supplier.


Dorset-based Olives Et Al specialises in marinated, stuffed and pitted olives. They also produce olive oil, snacks, nuts, dressings, sauces and antipasti food.


Olives Et Al’s finance director had benefited from our range of services when he was working for another business, so he turned to us again when the need arose.


A growing business, Olives Et Al was using an outdated and unsupported Samsung telephone system. This meant if the system failed, it would prove difficult to fix without manufacturer backing. They were also juggling multiple providers for their various connectivity services, so were keen to find a single solution supplier that could meet all their needs.


swcomms was selected to deploy a Mitel Connect VoIP on-premise telephone system with SIP voice services and internet connections for their headquarters.

The Mitel Connect unified communications features can be used on any device; anywhere and at any time with a consistent look and feel. Conversations can be ceased on one device and picked up seamlessly on another.


More important to Olives Et Al was the call handling abilities of the solution. They were keen to automate as many business processes as possible to streamline their daily tasks and to provide excellent customer service. The Mitel Connect supports intelligent call routing so account managers receive direct calls from pre-determined numbers. This reduced the need to rely on reception staff to transfer these incoming calls leaving them free to deal with other tasks.


The Mitel Connect supports easy growth with the simple addition of handsets and licences to complement the flexibility afforded by SIP voice services. SIP trunking represents the future of voice connectivity in that it uses internet connections for calls. Businesses can then enjoy free calls, enhanced business continuity options and number flexibility.


We deployed new converged voice-only fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) connections to support Olives Et Al’s SIP service. These assured circuits are suitable for SIP as they guarantee bandwidth to support quality of service for calls. As broadband does not come with a service level agreement that will guarantee a fix in the event of an outage, Olives Et Al has an ISDN back-up line to ensure they can always make and receive calls.


We pride ourself on our project delivery, from solution design and project management to deployment and ongoing, follow-up support. We provided one point of contact throughout project delivery before handing over to a dedicated account manager that will look after Olive Et Al’s needs from now on.
