swcomms provides a leased line connection serving a new cloud-hosted telephone system. 


Southern Fabrications is a structural engineering company, based in Chichester. Otherwise known as Sfabs, they design, manufacturer and deliver bespoke steel frames for a range of buildings.   


Sfabs had been using an ageing telephone system that could no longer be supported at manufacturer level, meaning there was no guarantee of a fix if it failed. They were also struggling with a poor internet connection. Based in a rural location, this meant they were struggling to send and download large files.


Our communications consultant visited the site to evaluate Sfabs’ needs and recommended the installation of a leased line and a Gamma Horizon cloud-hosted telephone system.  


The leased line provides Sfabs with a private, secure, uncontended connection which means they won’t suffer the bandwidth and resilience issues associated with a slower, contended internet connection.


Sfabs needed a secure, fast internet connection with 100% uptime and can now rely on a service level agreement which mean any issues will be resolved within a guaranteed response time. Broadband does not come with such an SLA so any issue can take weeks to resolve, which is unworkable for most businesses. Broadband is also unsuitable for voice.


We also delivered the cloud-hosted telephone system on the leased line as it can support excellent voice quality.


With the cloud-hosted system in place, Sfabs members of staff can work from home or on the move with ease. 


Workers can manage all calls effectively from their office handsets or from their mobile phones with handset twinning. They can take, make and transfer calls wherever they are working, so they stay productive and in contact with customers and suppliers at all times.  


Staff benefit from voicemail-to-email whereby voicemails will be sent directly to the recipient’s inbox to picked up at a convenient time.


Sfabs enjoys free calls to UK mobiles and landlines which gives them a significant saving on outgoing call costs.


The Gamma Horizon solution provides a business continuity solution too. If staff cannot get into the office, e.g. because of snow, Sfabs can divert their calls to a mobile number via a web-based, easy-to-use management portal. This can also be used for programming simple moves, adds and changes to cut down on engineering costs.


Sfabs enjoys their new solution for a fixed monthly cost helping them to manage their budgets effectively.


They also benefit from a single point of contact for both their internet connectivity and telephone system should they have any queries.
